Dad & the Manhattan Project

My dad helped create the electronic triggering device (the X-Unit) for the first plutonium atomic bombs (Gadget and Fat Man). He was with the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge, Los Alamos, Wendover and Tinian, and later worked on Operation Crossroads for the Abel and Baker bomb tests. While I’d heard a few stories growing up about dad’s work on the A-bomb, the details are unfortunately vague now, and I’d never really sat down with him to get it all down on paper before he died. With my re-discovery of dad’s old photos and letters, I’m beginning to piece it back together. If you recognize anything or anyone after viewing these photos, please email me and let me know.
